Fun Group Workout

This morning (Saturday) we are doing a workout with a few friends. Instead of doing the usual “longer” run, we are going to mix it up a bit. Basically we are running/jogging half mile intervals with exercises at those points. These are good for many reasons; everyone can workout as a group, lots of muscle groups exercised, and it usually feels easier than a long run while still giving you a good workout. We  tend to run at the pace of the slower runner so that we can all stay together as a group. This could also be done for speed  – but I don’t think that would be nearly as fun with a group!

 

Some of the exercises we like to work in:

  • Burpees
  • Pushups (regular, wide grip, narrow grip)
  • Crunches
  • Body weight squats
  • Fireman carries
  • Running with a dumbbell or other small weight
  • Jumping jacks
  • Flutter kicks / leg lifts
  • Calf raises
  • Superman!

 

We’re looking around for some more group workouts as we come up on our marathon training with our friends – cross training is important to us. Do you have any group workouts that you love?
